If you are planning to become a certified personal trainer in Singapore, the course fee is usually the first number you want to pin down. What you pay depends on your age, your citizenship and the funding you can use, so this page lets you work it out for yourself.
Carbyne Education runs the IFPA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer (CPT) course through Get Certified PT. The calculator below uses the same funding rules as our application form. Its figures are estimates: all funding is subject to your eligibility and to approval by SSG, MOE and NTUC, and Admissions verifies your funding before your place is confirmed.
Published 26 October 2026. Funding rules can change, so check the official sources linked at the end of this article before you enrol.

How this estimate works
- SSG funding is applied to the S$899.00 full fee first: 70% for Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above, or 50% for Singapore Citizens aged 16 to 39 and Permanent Residents aged 16 and above.
- SkillsFuture Credit, for Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above, then pays part or all of the nett fee. It cannot exceed the nett fee.
- PSEA, for Singapore Citizens aged 31 or below in the year the course starts, then pays part or all of the remaining balance.
- Whatever remains is paid in cash at checkout.
- After completion, eligible NTUC members may claim UTAP on the cash paid only: 50%, capped at S$250 a year under 40 or S$500 a year at 40 and above, shared with other UTAP claims in the same year.
The same rules drive the estimate on our application form. Your entries stay in this page's memory and reset when you reload; this calculator does not send or save them.
The fee to compare: after SSG funding, before SkillsFuture Credit
The full course fee is S$899 and is not subject to GST. SSG course-fee funding reduces the fee itself, so the nett fee after SSG funding is the figure to compare between courses. SkillsFuture Credit and PSEA come from your own accounts and are applied after that.
| Your profile | Estimated SSG funding | Nett fee after SSG funding, before SkillsFuture Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore Citizen aged 40 and above | 70% (S$629.30) | S$269.70 |
| Singapore Citizen aged 16 to 39 | 50% (S$449.50) | S$449.50 |
| Permanent Resident aged 16 and above | 50% (S$449.50) | S$449.50 |
| Other learners | Not applicable | S$899.00 |
How each type of funding works, in the order it applies
Step 1, SSG course-fee funding. SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) pays part of the course fee to the training provider, so the amount you owe is smaller. It is applied first, and the rate depends on your citizenship and age. SSG-funded learners must pass all required assessments: an unresolved unsuccessful assessment may result in recovery of the subsidy and an out-of-pocket shortfall against the S$899 full course fee, subject to the applicable funding rules and any approved reassessment.
Step 2, SkillsFuture Credit. This is credit in your own SkillsFuture account, not a course subsidy. Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above can choose how much of it to use against the nett fee, and you submit the claim yourself through MySkillsFuture. Submit your SkillsFuture Credit claim by Carbyne's operational deadline: two weeks (14 calendar days) before the course start date (Day 1).
Step 3, PSEA. Funds in your own Post-Secondary Education Account can be used on this course, which is approved for PSEA use; like SkillsFuture Credit, they are your own balance rather than a course subsidy. On our application form, PSEA can be declared by Singapore Citizens aged 31 or below in the year the course starts. Declare the amount when you apply and checkout collects only the balance. Only Carbyne Education can submit the withdrawal to MOE. MOE then notifies you to authorise it in the Student Finance System, and you must do so within 10 calendar days; a parent or legal guardian authorises for an account holder below 21. Use depends on your available balance and MOE processing.
Step 4, cash at checkout. Whatever remains after SSG funding, SkillsFuture Credit and PSEA is paid at secure card or PayNow checkout. A PDF course invoice is emailed after you submit your application.
Step 5, UTAP after completion. The Union Training Assistance Programme is a reimbursement you claim from NTUC after completing the course, not a deduction at checkout. Eligible NTUC members who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents may claim 50% of the cash they actually paid, capped at S$250 a year if under 40 or S$500 a year if aged 40 and above. The annual cap is shared with any other UTAP claims in the same year, and UTAP does not apply to the part paid with SkillsFuture Credit or PSEA. Claims are subject to NTUC approval, must be submitted within six months of the final course day, and require you to remain a paid-up member. The UTAP course code is C00039959.

A worked example
Take a Singapore Citizen aged 30 who is an NTUC member and uses S$200 of SkillsFuture Credit. The full fee of S$899.00 less S$449.50 of SSG funding gives a nett fee of S$449.50. Using S$200.00 of SkillsFuture Credit leaves S$249.50 to pay at checkout. After completion, an estimated UTAP reimbursement of S$124.75 (50% of S$249.50) would bring the estimated cash cost to S$124.75, subject to NTUC approval.
Other costs and steps to plan for
- The IFPA online test is included in the course fee. It becomes bookable once you have earned the Certificate of Completion; a retest after an unsuccessful attempt has a separate retest fee.
- Book the IFPA online test within the deadline counted from Day 1 of your course. A late-booking fee applies if you miss it; the current deadline and fees are in the course FAQ.
- The online test is remotely proctored, so plan for a laptop, reliable internet and a working camera.
- If you miss a training day, an approved makeup arrangement carries an S$80 administration fee per arrangement.
- Moving to another course run with less than 14 calendar days' notice before your original Day 1 incurs an administrative fee, plus any fee or funding difference.
- Applicants over 75 need a doctor's memo or medical screening report confirming suitable fitness for the practical activities.
- If you plan to register with the National Registry of Exercise Professionals (NREP), SportSG also asks for valid Standard First Aid with CPR and AED. That is a separate course and is not part of our course fee.
For the full NREP registration checklist: Read our NREP vs NROC guide
Completing the course is not the same as being certified
Completing our three-day course leads to a Certificate of Completion. The IFPA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer certification is awarded separately by IFPA when you pass the IFPA online test, which has 110 multiple-choice questions, is remotely proctored and has an 80% pass mark.
